Funding Circle, the UK’s leading lending platform for small businesses, has today unveiled international rugby star Jamie George as its first brand ambassador.
George, who has 85 caps for his country, is also the co-founder of The Carter & George Practice, which operates three physiotherapy and personal training clinics across the south of England, making him the perfect partner to promote Funding Circle’s mission to support the UK’s local business ecosystem in a challenging environment for small business owners.
To promote his partnership with Funding Circle, George will appear in a series of videos that aim to bring the challenges of business to life in a rugby environment, highlighting the connections between being a professional rugby player and running a small business. The content series, which is hosted by iconic rugby presenter David “Flats” Flatman, will be released throughout the course of the rest of the 2023-24 Premiership Rugby season, with the first episode going live on January 31st and new instalments dropping fortnightly.
The partnership expands Funding Circle’s presence in rugby, where it has been a sponsor of the Gallagher Premiership since the start of the 2022-23 season, and will strengthen Funding Circle’s awareness among rugby fans as they continue to back big players and small businesses.
Since its foundation in 2010 Funding Circle has provided over £16bn in funding to more than 140,000 businesses globally, helping small business owners realise their dreams.
Alexander Allen, Managing Director at Funding Circle said: “We are all about helping local communities and businesses thrive, on and off the pitch, so Jamie George, and the Carter & George Practice, make a perfect fit for Funding Circle. Our ethos is built around backing small businesses to succeed, so we are delighted to welcome Jamie George as our brand ambassador.”
Jamie George, Co-Founder at The Carter & George Practice, said: “As a small business owner as well as a rugby player, I know the importance of someone having your back, and Funding Circle provide that backing for thousands of businesses across the UK. It’s great to come together with a brand that understands the pressures of running a business in this environment, and offers support to owners through the good times and the bad. I look forward to working with them to help many more small businesses throughout the country.”
