Wick & Tallow

Bringing English eccentricity to luxury fragrance

Since launching in 2011, Wick & Tallow has grown from a Portobello Market stall into a bespoke luxury fragrance brand. Alice Malcolm Green’s vision to bring “English eccentricity” combined with operational agility to a traditional market has led to the brand successfully expanding beyond candles into home fragrance.

Funding Circle has supported the business with three Term Loans since 2021 to fuel its growth mission. These strategic injections of capital allowed the business to scale its production and reach new customer segments in the luxury market.

Since 2024, Alice and her partner James have also been using FlexiPay to spread supplier payments for materials over several months. This multi-product approach has transformed the company’s daily operations, helping it to better manage cash flow and enabling it to scale faster with confidence. By bridging the gap between material costs and sales revenue, it is now able to keep up to date with invoices while focusing on high-end bespoke innovation.

The Nest

Expanding a London sanctuary for fitness and connection

Climbing enthusiasts Rob Lawley and Sam Hunter launched The Nest in 2019 to create a space where inclusive bouldering meets genuine community connection. Located in Hayes, the centre has become more than a gym – it is a London sanctuary designed for yoga, fitness and building local relationships.

To ensure they could continue to serve their vibrant and growing community, our customers needed fast access to capital to enhance their facilities. Our proprietary technology engine provided the speed and certainty required for this expansion, delivering a £22,000 Term Loan. This injection of funds allowed the team to scale its footprint and launch a dedicated café, embedding the business even more deeply into the neighbourhood.

By combining its vision with our seamless platform experience, The Nest has successfully transitioned from a specialised gym into a vital hub for West London.
